Grand Prix, Dressage to Music, Grandstand Seating, Tradestands, Hot and Cold Refreshments and a Bar (opening times apply). Summer Ride Open

Finally we have had a little bit of warmth to start the grass growing! The Summer Ride is now open, with the very popular paddle up the River Dane, and some new fences added. In fact everything is open this weekend – ring us on 01260 299888 to book. Don’t forget to bring your loyalty card with you when you come to the office to pay – collect 9 stickers and your 10th Ride is free!

Finally what we have all been waiting for – a little bit of warm weather to encourage the grass to start growing! We are now on the Summer Ride, with the ever popular paddle up the River Dane. XC Schooling OPEN

Now would be a good time to come and use the XC Schooling – the going is perfect………as you can see we are currently escaping the snow, and have put down lots of sand to keep the ground conditions as good as possible. Even if it means changing your planned programme, these conditions are too good to miss and it might not stay this good if the rain comes back!

Easter Opening

Weather permitting all facilities will be open over the Easter Holidays. The Farm Ride will remain on the Winter Sand Track until the weather improves! The XC Schooling is drying up nicely – we have had no snow here to speak of, but when the temperatures drop below freezing at night is is best to ring in the morning to book – it usually thaws out for dinner time.

The Yard Arenas are fine, no freezing there, and the show jumps are quite sheltered from the east wind, so they are staying upright!

We do have a small amount of haylage available for sale, in 100kg and 200kg bales. Ring Ann on 01260 299888 for details, during office hours.

Somerford Event 9th & 10th March

We are looking forwards to two full days of Eventing this weekend. Spectators are welcome - £5 per car for the NW Air Ambulance. To see the timetable and runners and riders please click on to BDWP here

We are also pleased to be hosting the Cheshire Hunt North Branch of the Pony Club Winter League Show Jumping in the Main Yard on Saturday - please make sure you arrive at the right Competition!

All the other facilities (including the Farm Ride and XC Schooling) are closed this weekend but will re-open on Monday 11th March.

Cross Country Schooling Open.

This weekend we have opened the XC schooling on the grass, although it is on a day to day basis – we will shut it if the ground conditions deteriorate. Obviously we cannot predict overnight weather, so it is best to check conditions the morning you want to come.

The Farm Ride is looking glorious in the early Spring sunshine, the snowdrops are brightening up the woodland and a pair of Goosander have taken up residence on the lake.

The XC jumps in the Ash Arena will be coming out at the end of next week, so if you are planning to use it book soon to avoid disappointment.

Entries for the March BE Event have been flooding in and preparations are in full swing – let us hope this fine weather stays with us for a while!

We are happy to confirm that ALL our Arenas, parking areas and Winter Ride are open. Whilst you would not want to jump on the Ride at the moment is is perfectly safe for a hack in very pretty scenery.

The going in the Arenas is fabulous and perfectly suitable for jumping. You need not worry that your horse is going to slip when he comes down the ramp onto the carpark either – all that has been taken care of as well!

2013 pre-season Eventers Show Jumping.

Happy New Year to all our Clients!

We will soon see the days starting to draw out again, but for now we still need the floodlights to ride after work.

The annual pre-season Eventers Show Jumping will take place on Tuesday 26th February. Classes range from BE80 to Intermediate with all levels in between. There is also a clear round ring. The day starts at 9am with entries on the day. For a schedule please click here.

The Winter Farm Ride has been busy over the holiday period, with the all weather surface coping well with the wet conditions. The Ash Arena with the XC technique fences is again also proving popular. Heights start from 60cm for young and inexperienced horses but there are some quite challenging questions for the more confident partnerships. Please ring us on 01260 299888 to book.

If you are wondering what to buy a horsey friend for Christmas our Facility Vouchers are very popular. You can buy them for the Farm Ride, Cross Country (Schooling Field or Technique Arena), and the Show Jumping or Flatwork Arenas. Just ring us on 01260 299888 and we can send them out in the post in time for the Big Day!

Apart from Christmas Day and Boxing Day we are open over the Christmas period, but you must give us a ring on 01260 299888 to book – please do not email as I will not always pick them up. The Winter Ride is good fun and you can retire to the warmth of Hoofers Cafe for hot drinks and mince pies once you have ridden, before a little retail therapy in Hope Valley Saddlery Shop.

If you would like a more intense session, we are now taking bookings for the XC Technique in the Ash Arena, questions and heights to suit all abilities, and of course the Show Jumping and Flatwork Arenas are also available.

We would like to thank you all for your support in 2012, and look forwards to meeting friends old and new in preparation for the coming Season.
