I always go to Somerford Park for my pre season schooling sessions with our horses. It is just short of 3 hours away from our yard in North Yorkshire but the well maintained ground with all weather take off’s and landings to the huge variety of fences make the long journey more than worth the trip.

You will love Somerford!!! Seriously. I think you'd be hard pressed to find better camp facilities! The stables are beautiful and I'd happily move in as a permanent resident! They are in light and airy American barns and very spacious stables (my girl is 17hh and looked lost in hers!) Worth bearing in mind though that there are no rubber mats. so although they give you two bales when you arrive, in my opinion. its better to buy a couple of extra! The haylage is ad-lib and great quality.

The camp area also has its own arenas which are HUGE and inter-connected. They can easily have 4-5 lessons going at once with loads of room. However. .... the real reason why Somerford is awesome is the cross country course!!! Its really hard to beat! there are fences for all abilities, from tiny logs to full-up advanced fences which are awe-inspiring! And everything between .... there is also a fantastic water complex
