SO often owners can feel the forgotten piece of the jigsaw at shows so it’s nice to see that Somerford’s Premier League and Bolesworth’s CDI have come up with a real boost for the ‘cheque writers’ of the sport with the introduction of the ‘Cheshire Crown’.

The owner of the top Grand Prix horse from the two shows combined will win a gorgeous perpetual bronze trophy and, more to the point, two VIP tickets for the Grand Prix freestyle at Olympia and accommodation at the fabulous Townhouse Hotel, Number Sixteen, South Kensington, courtesy of the Firmdale Group of Hotels.

“It’s only too easy for the owners to get left out in the excitement of winning, everything tends to revolve around the riders and horses and we thought this was a great way of giving them a big thank you for all their support, and we’re hoping it will attract the top combinations,” said Somerford Park Dressage organiser Millie King.

Certainly both Somerford and Bolesworth have great reputations and are attracting large numbers of spectators, the latter combining top class show jumping and entertainments alongside the dressage.

“These are two fabulous friendly shows that provide superb facilities for the owners and this is a real feather in their capsto come up with this prize,” said Richard Davison. “They compare to what’s common place abroad and it’s a very exciting development for dressage in this country – I’m putting my entry in now!”
